Please join The Department of Behavioral and Community Health for a Faculty Search Virtual Research Talk with Dr. Shivani Gaiha on Friday, March 1, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. titled “Preventing Adolescent and Young Adult Tobacco Use: Informing Prevention Programs and Policy Solutions.”

 

Dr. Shivani MathurGaiha is an Instructor in the Division of Adolescent Medicine, Departmentof Pediatrics at StanfordUniversity School of Medicine. She has a Ph.D. in Public Health from the London School ofHygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has training in Epidemiology and expertise applying bothquantitative and qualitative methods to tobacco regulatory science. With the goal of preventingand reducing tobacco-related risks and disease, Dr. Gaiha’s research focuses on fourkey areas: assessing adolescent and young adult patterns of tobacco use, identifying factorsassociated with use of new tobacco products such as electronic cigarettes, evaluating the effectsof tobacco prevention programs, and understanding, and countering the appeal ofe-cigarette-related marketing. Dr. Gaiha is the recipient of the K99/R00Pathway to Independence Award inTobacco Regulatory Science from the National Cancer Institute/NationalInstitutes of Health and has received additional support from the Stanford Maternal and Child Health Research Institute.
