Speaker: Dr. Angela Ellis-Paine is a Research Fellow at the Third Sector Research Centre in the Department of Social Policy, Sociology and Criminology at the University of Birmingham, UK. She has been involved in research on voluntary action for over twenty years, with a particular interest in volunteering and participation.

Title: Early Career Researchers and Covid-19: Exploring the Pandemic's Impact on Research Practice and Researcher Wellbeing

Early career researchers and PhD students are delivering projects in an unusually challenging context. The Covid-19 pandemic has transformed how researchers are undertaking fieldwork, requiring quick changes of approach, sometimes mid-project. The shift to online video and survey-based approaches has been abrupt and has implications for both researchers and participants, some of whom are also dealing with Covid-related trauma.

During this session, Dr. Ellis-Paine shares her experiences and participants will be engaged in interactive sessions to address the following issues:
1. What has been the experience of researchers navigating these challenges, and what lessons can be learned for the future?
2. How can early career researchers protect their own mental health and wellbeing while operating in a fast moving and challenging environment?
