About

Dr. Albert Shieh is an endocrinologist with an appointment in the Division of Geriatrics. His research and clinical practice focus on osteoporosis. He currently sees patients in Westwood, Santa Monica, and Torrance, and is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.

Dr. Shieh received his medical degree and completed his internal medicine residency at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he completed his endocrinology fellowship at UCLA. He grew up in the greater Boston area and earned his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he majored in biology.

Dr. Shieh's research focuses on menopause-related bone loss, and its relation to bone health in older adults. He currently receives research funding from NIH. His work has been published in top journals in his field, including JCI Insight, Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. His research was recognized by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research through a Young Investigator Award. He has also served as guest editor of the Bone Disorders issue of Endocrinology & Metabolism Clinics of North America.

When he's not working, Dr. Shieh enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, going to the driving range and batting cage, and traveling.
