His clinical interests include bloodstream infections, surgical infections, endocarditis and other cardiovascular infections, and neurological infections. He will continue to provide clinical care and mentorship in the division of infectious diseases in addition to his new role.

We are also pleased to announce that Paul Allyn, MD will assume the role of clinical chief of the division of infectious diseases. Dr. Allyn joined the division of infectious diseases in 2014 as a clinician educator and spearheaded the development of the neuro infectious disease service. From the onset of the pandemic in 2020, he stepped in to help lead the division's clinical COVID-19 response and was appointed associate clinical chief in June of the same year. He serves as the associate program director of the UCLA Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program and is a member of the DoM Wellness Committee.
